This game has a parachute mechanic that has the player drop from a plane to land on the level. The game also borrows a lot of design elements from Airborne but implements them terribly. Wii's hardware is much more capable than this. Metroid Prime 3 and Heroes 2 were released in the same year, and they look better and run at 60fps. I actually felt like I was playing an N64 game. It fails to maintain the consistent 30fps and often dips below 10fps. However, what is unforgivable is the framerate.

Then I checked the PS2 version footage, and somehow, it looks better than the Wii port? It became clear they made a budget MOH game for PS2 in its last cycle, then called an inexperienced third-party dev (this is apparently Budcat Creations' first Wii game) to port it to Wii without giving enough time and resources to ride on the Wii trend. The game looks ugly without a consistent art design. It recycles music, models, props, and sound effects from older games. good lord, how much did EA cut the budget? I thought Rising Sun had a poor production value, but Vanguard takes the cake. The first impression I got from Vanguard is. The developers are different, too, as the Wii version was outsourced by a third-party developer. Vanguard was their first attempt, released in the same year. However, Heroes 2 was not the first MOH for Wii. If you crave for a motion control FPS, I recommend picking this one up. It followed the first game's Goldeneye-style design philosophy and structure (though it didn't utilize that structure well as much as the PS1 games) while mixing the fast-paced and addicting combat, helped by smooth control and 60fps. This is the last good installment in the MOH series. I am still disheartened that the current-gen console shooters still don't provide widespread gyro support.Īmong the Wii FPS I played, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 was one of my favorites, and I was disheartened to see so many video creators like JarekTheGamingDragon and GVMERS smeared it as either mediocre or the worst MOH game. Mouse control is superior, obviously, but motion control, if implemented well, is so much manageable over analog control, which has to be assisted with aim assist and slower combat design to be actually playable. I vastly prefer motion control over analog stick when comes to shooters. I just played Medal of Honor: Vanguard on Wii.
